Van Westen Vineyards Viscous 2021

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaStill available, this is a first rate, intensely flavoured Riesling stuffed with ripe pear, peach, green apple, orchard blossom, lemon zest, and honey. Fully ripe yet lively, walking the acid line, boasting nectarine, Granny Smith apple, lime, guava, and sugared lemon drops. I love the balance, and the 11.6 alcohol lets this riesling slide down so fast that the bottle will empty before the food arrives. Anything spicy works here, especially sushi rolls, but you can sip this solo, too. Back up the truck if you are a patio freak, as this could be your summer star. Viscous continues to overdeliver in likeability and sheer quaff-ability, not to mention how it plays to the versatility of the Naramata Bench.Tasted: 07 November 2023Tasted by: Prices:
