Veneto, ItalyPouring a pale provencal pink, this rosé is based on chardonnay and sauvignon blanc, with a dash of colour from pinot nero (noir). It shows a simple, fruity nose combining orange blossom and pear, with a herbal accent. Even with a pinch of residual sugar, there's more than enough acidity to keep this dry, though the balance is not altogether seamless. Drink now.Tasted: 22 January 2024Tasted by: Prices:
Veneto, ItalyA new IGT Trevenezie rosato listing from Santa Margherita is a mix of chardonnay (from the mountainous area of Trentino), sauvignon blanc (from the Adriatic shores), and a touch of Venetian pinot nero to tint the wine just off-white. It is all fermented in stainless steel and pitches soft peach streaked with spice and tangerine rind. The finish is dry and somewhat tart, which happily sets off the softish mid-palate. Serve well chilled with prawns or raw tuna.Tasted: 26 May 2023Tasted by: Prices:
Veneto, ItalyFrom the smartly named IGT Trevenezie (I may be biased) this is a new rosato listing from the well-known Santa Margherita brand. This blend of Chardonnay (from the mountainous area of Trentino), Sauvignon Blanc (from the Adriatic shores), and a touch of Venetian Pinot Nero is going for the lucrative Provençal rosé crowd. Fermented in stainless, this pale-peach hued pink is glossy with raspberry, tangerine, and fine spice on a compact, somewhat tart, and thankfully bone dry palate. Chill well and drink now.Tasted: 08 November 2022Tasted by: Prices:
