Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaJason Priestley, Hollywood actor/director; media broadcaster Terry David Mulligan; and winemaker Michal Mosny (Winemaker's Cut) are behind the Q&A. I revisited the 2020 red blend a year later to see where the wine is at in the bottle. The blend is 45/38/13/4 cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, and petit verdot, which enjoyed ideal growing conditions in 2020. The bouquet is beginning to toss vibrant, savoury desert scrub aromas mixed with cedar and hints of cinnamon. The palate is a full-bodied mix of blueberries and sweet black raspberries with some intense clove in the finish. It seems a bit out of sorts now, like many reds that fade into the bottle for a year or two before reemerging. The texture remains inviting while the acidity kicks up a bit, with some balsamic notes in the back. Youthful and rambunctious, this would be fine with a Tomahawk steak now, but another year or two in the bottle should repay your patience.Tasted: 24 November 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaJason Priestley, a former investor at Black Hills Estate Winery and Hollywood actor/director, is back in the wine business with media broadcaster Terry David Mulligan and winemaker Michal Mosny (Winemaker's Cut). The release of Q&A, a 2020 red blend, marks a return of Priestly to the B.C. wine scene after the sale of Black Hills to the Peller family. Mosny's hands-off winemaking at Winemaker's Cut has increased us for some time, always exhibiting a sense of finesse with most of his wines to date. Mosny's calm and efficient winemaking style is the perfect antidote to the Hollywood and Vine media rush the other partners will bring to the mix. The blend is a 45/38/13/4 cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot, all of which enjoyed ideal growing conditions in 2020. The nose is an attractive savoury mix of ripe blue fruits, sweet black raspberries, and fresh cloves. The textures are equally inviting thanks to an excellent vintage that pitches round, ripe, juicy fruit that slides down easily. The ripe fruit and oak are a little reminiscent of California cabernet sauvignon blends with a touch of Canadian restraint. You can drink this now through the next seven years as it matures in a bottle.Tasted: 18 November 2022Tasted by: Prices:
