Ferraton Père & Fils Calendes Crozes-Hermitage 2020

Crozes Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe Ferraton family have been winemakers for generations, and the estate was converted to biodynamic practices by Michel Chapoutier. This syrah comes from the area of Mercuroland Beaumont-Monteux and its pebbled, stony gravels. It was destemmed and fermented in stainless prior to aging in large oak barrels for 8 months. Savoury and wild, this medium+ red is very complete, with black cherry, black plum, scrubby herbs and cracked pepper, wrapped with fine, grippy tannins and finishing with stony spices. Lovely layers of depth, and drinking very smartly now.Tasted: 15 November 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
