Dominio de Tares Cepas Viejas 2017

Bierzo, Castilla-Leon, SpainIn the Atlantic northwest corner of Spain, these 60 year old bush vines of mencia grow at 700m. After a native ferment, this aged 10 months in French barriques, followed by an 18 month rest in the bottle prior to release. Wild and brooding, with thorny blackberry, black cherry, perfumed dark florals drawn across a leathery palate, with oxidative notes at the fore battling with mountainous acidity for pole position. The overripeness fruit wins out, finishing with browning spices and salinity. Past prime.Tasted: 09 November 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
