Château Bellevue Morgon Les Charmes 2019

Morgon, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceThe majestic Chateau de Bellevue was built in the 19th century on the hill of Bellevue, overlooking the village of Ville-Morgon. The Lyonnais founders built a cellar behind the chateau between 1830-1840, which saw multiple generations making wine there. In 2009, Maison Jean Loron purchased Chateau Bellevue, restored the castle, and modernized the winery and historic barrel cellar. This is 40-year-old vines in clay and sandstone, partial carbo, fermented over three weeks, and aged in a mix of stainless and large foudres over ten months. Wild black cherry, black raspberry, perfumed purple/blue florals, and thorns flow through a medium, polished palate with finely structural tannins and easily lofted acidity. This lingers in stony, white pepper salinity on the finish. Quite clever, showing well the very good 2019 vintage.Tasted: 23 November 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
