Champagne Lancelot Pienne Table Ronde Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut NV

Champagne, FranceBoth the Lancelot and Pienne families have been making Champagne for more than 100 years, and were united in the 1960s when Jean Lancelot wed Brigitte Pienne. Today they have just over 8 hectares of vines. From the chalky GC villages of Cramant, Avize, and Chouilly, these vines age 50 years. This bottle was based 80% on 2017, with 20% reserve wines from a solera started in 1998. This was disgorged in October 2021 (3+ years sur lattes) with a dosage of 3.5 g/L. The power of the grand crus is evident, as is the concentration of older vines on the deep chalk soils, translating as frizzed lemon, ripe green apple, meringue, atop a salted brioche base, and lingering with chalky salinity through the bitter rainier cherry finish. Quite smart, drinking very well now.Tasted: 23 November 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
