Montagne de Reims, Champagne, FranceArnaud Margaine is 5th generation winegrower in the Montagne de Reims, overseeing their sustainable vineyards. This BdB comes from their home village, 1er Cru Villers-Marmery, and parcels Alouettes, Grands Arbres, Chemin de Verzy. The village is a little island of chalky chardonnay in an abundant sea of Pinot Noir. This was fermented in a 67/33 SS/wood mix, with partial MLF, and approximately 20% reserve wines from the previous year. My bottle spent 2 years sur lattes and was disgorged January 2023, with 3.5 g/L. Tight green apple, bright lemon is braced with a chalk corset that beds the wine, and lingers on the saline finish. Really smart, tight winemaking here. 3350 bottles.Tasted: 12 January 2024Tasted by: Prices:
