Storm Haven Boulders Riesling 2020

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada2020 is the second release of the Storm Haven wines from Synchromesh, with all the fruit coming off their spectacularly diverse 107 acre home site in Okanagan Falls. This marks the debut vintage of Boulders, a tiny block planted in 2017 between the original plantings and their Cabernet Franc. The young vines are rooted in heavy clays and rocky granite over sandy gravels. Much drier than most of Alan's wines, this has just a blip of RS at 14.95 g/L, so up against the TA of 8.175 and 3.2pH feels positively stark in the lineup. The style allows the crushed stones, rock salts, meadow grass, pear skin to rule the shier palate, with that weighed clay underlay providing a solid base. The finish spins out quickly with lime leaf and fine salinity. Will be interesting to watch this young block mature. 23 cases made.Tasted: 12 October 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
