Rivera Scariazzo Fiano 2020

Puglia, ItalyScariazzo comes from a single vineyard in the hills of the Murgia area, northwest of Bari, and is made from fiano. The fiano grape is an indigenous variety from the Irpinia area, known as the apiana grape, because bees (api) prefer its sweetness. The vines are old and resilient to most weather events, from heat and cold to wind and rain. The fruit is picked at the optimal phenolic maturity and fermented in 20% new Allier oak barriques and 80% stainless steel. Look for light smoky notes sprinkled with wet stones and fragrant florals. The palate is medium-bodied with multiple layers and fine acidity to keep it fresh. A perfect wine for appetizers, it has the weight to take on veal or seafood with ease. The name Scariazzo is a traditional vaulted building where sheep are kept, symbolic of the economy that flourished in the north of Puglia until the end of the 19th century.Tasted: 20 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
