Ridge Lytton Springs 2020
Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesEast Lytton Estate, in the Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County, has zinfandel growing on seven hilltops, Petite sirah surrounds the zinfandel on six, grenache on one, and all figure in the wine most years. After the primary fermentation and the malolactic fermentation, 24 of the 33 small fermentation lots were transferred to American oak (15% new, 85% used) for 14 months of ageing. The complexity comes from the blend: 73% zinfandel, 16% petite sirah, 9% carignane, and 2% mataro. I love it already, and it’s just a baby. Look for the characteristic brambly raspberry, peppery fruit dusted in dark chocolate and savoury dried herbs. The acidity is perfect, and the tannins are dense and sweet for both drinkability now and long term ageing.Tasted: 13 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $76.99 | 750ml | select private retailers |
