Mingaco Vino Blanco 2021
Itata Valley, ChileDaniela de Pablo Mendoza and Pablo Pedreros are the duo behind this Itata Valley project, biodynamically farming just over 1 hectare of land close to the Pacific Ocean. This dry farmed Moscatel de Alejandria comes from 30 year old bush vines in Itata's Secano Interior, at 300m, on granitic clay. Very obviously unfined and unfiltered, this cloudy orange wine spent 12 days on skins, before aging outside for a year in old barrels, amphora, and plastic bins, where a flor developed. Apricot and peach fuzz grip this astringent wine, with tangerine, orange blossom, grapefruit pith through a rustic, medicinal citrus finish.
