La Planta Ribera del Duero Tinto Fino 2019
Ribera del Duero, Castilla-Leon, SpainLa Planta is a gift to wine drinkers. The tempranillo (aka tinto fino) is made in the Ribera del Duero by Bodegas Arzuaga Navarra. Its 20 year old vines sit in chalky clay soils at 1000 meters, taking advantage of large daily swings between day and night, and between scorching summers and freezing winters. The winemaking is simple: fermentation in stainless steel followed by six months of ageing in older French and American oak. It has a lovely soft refreshing demeanour with balance and harmonious red fruit with delicate aromatics. Very food friendly, and is no doubt a super tapas start in Spain.
