Inglenook 1882 Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Rutherford, Napa Valley, California, United StatesA small production, Cabernet dominated blend that gives ripe red plum and black cherry, tightly wound but wrapped in silky tannins. This has a power to it but in a more accessible delivery. Confident and spiced with plenty of signature Inglenook balance, 1882 honours the year Captain Gustave Niebaum released the first Rutherford estate vintage, three years after the property was founded. The wine sees 15 percent new French oak, while 85 percent is raised in one year old French and American barrels. 130 years later, Philippe Bascaules, ex-Chateaux Margaux, is appointed general manager by the Coppola family to continue the story. 2018 is a stellar vintage, and the cabernet is very Napa. Sweet and wild black fruits streaked with cedar and savoury minty vanilla is kissed with cabernet franc for a lush finish. So silky soft you can drink it today, or it will hold through 2028.Tasted: 04 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
