Foxtrot Chardonnay 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2020 Foxtrot Chardonnay is a blend of fruit from Peachland, Osoyoos, and the Similkameen. It is whole cluster pressed and transferred to French oak barrels for fermentation. After undergoing a complete malolactic fermentation, it was aged sur lies for ten months in 12 percent new French oak. Next, it gets six months of aging in stainless steel to tighten up the structure. The palate opens with an intense fresh Meyer lemon that drops onto the palate with butter and almonds. Only 196 cases were made. Stock up. 2020 was a rock and roll growing season across BC. A freezing winter caused some bud damage, yielding smaller clusters for many growers. A warm early spring brought bud break in late April, but cool and wet weather caused vine growth to slow, delaying flowering until late June. Warm weather finally arrived in mid July, and temperatures held for the rest of the summer. However, increased humidity and moisture, due to above normal precipitation followed by higher temperatures, caused extreme mildew pressure in the vineyard through the middle of the summer, requiring ongoing treatment and vigilance. VĂ©rasion was in late August, still behind schedule, but warm temperatures and reduced rainfall in autumn allowed them to achieve excellent phenolic maturity by mid October.Tasted: 07 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
