Winemaker's Cut Bohemian Riesling 2020

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThere is much to like about this wine, and it’s more than the Bohemian thing. The nose is bright with a mix of tropical and orchard fruit. The flavours are ripe with a green citrus theme that slides into stony mineral saline before finishing just off-dry. Best of all, it’s just quietly sophisticated, a grown-up wine for grown-ups. Mix and match duck, chicken, fish, pork, and Chinese, Thai, or Japanese. At Winemaker’s Cut, the Bohemian tier is dedicated to wines that exemplify their unique South Okanagan terroir and a self-described unconventional winemaking style. The 2020 riesling is a 500-case release grown at the 1.8-hectare Chahal Vineyard just north of Oliver, where the dirt is sandy loam and gravel, and the vines are 12 years old. The ferment is long at 71 days, with 22 percent barrel fermented for texture, while 10 percent gets 14 days of skin contact for aromatics.Tasted: 23 September 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
