Sicily, ItalyThis catarratto shows a semi-aromatic nose of white blossoms with dried grapefruit peel, pear, and beeswax, with some evolution to the fruit from time in bottle. Textured and dry on the palate, with crisp acidity, this is well balanced in a complex, saline style that will appeal to fans of lighter Rhône whites. Sicily, ItalyWith a somewhat dark gold hue, this initially showed a more developed character of bruised apple and nuts on the nose rather than youthful fruit or floral notes that you would expect from catarratto. On the palate, it proves to be a more serious wine than its first impression. Crisp acidity backed by a core of ripe citrus suggests it’s a structurally well framed wine. The fairly long finish with lingering saline almond notes is another charm of the wine. Perhaps it would have been a much more impressive wine if tasted a couple of years earlier, when the fruit was still vibrant.Tasted: 17 September 2022Tasted by: Prices:
