F.X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Loibner 2021

Wachau, Niederösterreich, Weinland Österreich, AustriaFounded in Oberloiben in 1898, the Pichler estate has developed a reputation as a Grüner Veltliner specialist since Franz Pichler Sr began selecting his own clones in 1928. His grandson son Lucas joined the winery team in 1996, taking over winemaking at the estate in 1999 and assuming management of the whole estate in 2009. Lucas manages the winery together with his wife Johanna, representing the 5th generation to farm these lands. The name LOIBEN (for the area of the cadastral communities Oberloiben and Unterloiben) is the designation of origin of this Wachau DAC village wine. The organic vineyards are situated on the plains of the Loibner basin, with light and warm soils made of alluvial Danube sand and gravel. Tight and sleek, with pear skin, green apple, Asian pear, apple blossom, subtle verbena on a gently buzzy base. Nice streamline form, that lingers on the finish.Tasted: 10 September 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
