Champagne Bollinger B13 2013
Champagne, FranceB13 isn’t likely to be in your market anymore, but it may reside on a restaurant list or at auction and is worth looking for. It is from the Montagne de Reims and is entirely pinot noir. Only five crus were used to make this 2013 vintage, from what can only be described as a challenging vintage, but 92% were Grands Crus, while eight percent of the vineyards used are rated Premiers Cru. It spent over seven years on its lees with a low dosage of 6 grams per litre at disgorgement. The nose is riper than you might expect, with plum and peach, and a hint of almonds. It follows onto the palate, adding a pie crust / Tarte Tatin flavour with some citrus, mineral, and salinity. Idiosyncratic, yes, but complex and fun to drink.Tasted: 30 September 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $224.00 | 750ml | select private retailers |
