Cantine Madonna Delle Grazie Leuconoe 2021

Basilicata, ItalyBet you haven't had a white Aglianico before. Cantine Madonna della Grazie is a small organic / biodynamic winery in Venosa, in the heart of Vulture. This is whole cluster Aglianico, separated quickly from its thick red skins. The fruit comes from a 1.5 hectare parcel of 30 year old vines in the Montalbo district on volcanic limestone clays, at 500m. This masale selection yields grapes with bigger berries which brings more juice and less skin = ideal for this type of wine. This was native fermented in stainless, with no MLF, remaining on lees until the following spring when it is lightly filtered and bottled. The creamy, medium bodied white is lit with a brilliant, bright acidity, streaking Asian pear, wild lemon along a lightly flinty palate, licked with lemon verbena. Structural, yet smashable, and certainly unique.Tasted: 01 September 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
