Cantine Madonna Delle Grazie Bauccio 2016

Basilicata, ItalyCantine Madonna della Grazie is a small organic / biodynamic winery in Venosa, in the heart of Vulture. Bauccio is the flagship of the Latoracca family's efforts, sourced from 55 year old Aglianico off a parcel of the Liscone vineyard on exclusively black volcanic clay and tuff at 430m. The natural ferment lasts a month in stainless where it remains for 2 years, after which the wine is racked into 500L French oak barrels (80% new) for 3-4 years. It is racked back into stainless for at least six months before bottling with light filtration. Complexed layers of dusky wild flowers, black plum, thorns, wild blackberry, black cherry are woven throughout buzzy broken stones, lashed with salt. Tannins are long, fine and firm, and acidity is effortlessly lofty. So finessed, this fuller red has an easy grace, drinking beautifully now and with time ahead.Tasted: 01 September 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
