Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAmulet is a wine project featuring Okanagan consulting winemaker Dwight Sick and Roche Winery owners Penelope and Dylan Roche on the Naramata Bench. It is inspired by the significant grapes and wines of the Rhône Valley. Production is small, and the first vintage was in 2018. The wines continue to grow and evolve each year. The latest Amulet White is a 90/10 mix of viognier/marsanne grown on the Naramata Bench and the Penticton West Bench. The style is intense but fresh with peaches, apricots with a dusting of lees to keep the sweetness in check and add complexity. It is a lush perfumed style of viognier with enough bitter notes to balance the finish. This will stand up to some substantial dishes like spicy Thai dishes. Good value here.Tasted: 13 August 2022Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis year's Amulet white blends 10% marsanne into viognier, with fruit off the Naramata Bench and Penticton. After the whole cluster fruit was left to chill 48 hours, it was transferred to French oak for a long, cool fermentation. Post MLF, it remained for 6 months with period bâtonnage. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Ripe and rich, this spreads lush peach, ripe apricot, fresh almond, and fragrant jasmine across a full palate, seasoned with warming crystalline ginger that rests on the finish. Rich and textural, and one to seek iif you like the more opulent, luxuriant style of viognier.Tasted: 18 September 2022Tasted by: Prices:
