Côtes du Rhône, Rhone Valley, FranceThe winegrowers of Castelas created their cooperative cellar in 1952, the same year the AOC Côtes du Rhône was developed. Today, 45 families make up the cooperative, and the cellar's vineyard covers 450 hectares, mainly in Côtes du Rhône. The red is a 60/40 mix of syrah and grenache with vines averaging an impressive 30 years of age. The nose is a mix of red and black, and the flavours are wild berries dusted with pepper.
