Les Vignerons du Castelas Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2019

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe cooperative cellar of the winegrowers of Castelas was founded in 1952, Today 45 families combine their efforts to produce Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Signargues, AOP Tavel, IGP du Gard, and this Châteauneuf-du-Pape. They make the wine in partnership with an unnamed but prestigious Domaine from the appellation. The growers of Castelas have put together a blend which matches their style. Rich and smooth with a modicum of tannin, it opens with spicy black fruit and rich sensuous unfolding Chateauneuf that never quits. Delicious drinking now will age for five to seven more years with ease. Lamb chops or a pork shoulder would be the match today with plenty of dried herb spicing. The wine is produced 70% in stainless steel tanks and 30% in oak barrels and aged for 15 months. It is a 60/40 blend of grenache/syrah.Tasted: 11 August 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
