Gold Hill Syrah 2018
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis has a dry, firm nose with less aromatic notes this year. The smoke is not a big issue in the nose, but you taste some of that in the finish, where you get some subtle notes that are fighting it out with the pepper. A good wine meets a tough year. The palate is all anise and spice with smoky red fruit. The structure is firm and weighty, but this is best consumed with rich foods like duck or a pork roast to tame some of the tannins and dryness. It has been aged in French Oak barrels for 18 months.Tasted: 13 August 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $23.39 | 750ml | winery direct, VQA wine shops |
