Coastal Region, South AfricaBoschendal was founded in 1685, making it one of the oldest and grandest Cape estates. This selection comes from old bush vines, fermented and aged in stainless, on lees. Green fig, verbena, almond is brightened with lime leaf, and sails along the sleek, subtly lees-lined palate to a snappy bitter citrus finish. Friendly and smart, and ready for cracking into now.Tasted: 11 April 2024Tasted by: Prices:
Coastal Region, South AfricaThe Sommelier Selection is just what it sounds like: a geekier version of the standard label. Elevated acidity and more bitter citrus zest plays down the sugar and ups the complexity. The palate mixes lime rind, sappy pine, grapefruit, and honey. The style is upbeat and zesty, playing on the green notes of chenin from olives to kiwi, all with a bitter undercurrent. Is it chenin? That is the question.Back to the drawing board.Tasted: 12 August 2022Tasted by: Prices:
