Barone Ricasoli Brolio Chianti Classico Riserva 2019

Siena, Tuscany, ItalyWe retasted this wine a couple of months after our last look, and it is just as good, if not better. The Riserva is made from a selection of estate grown grapes grown at 260 to 500 meters above sea level over sandstone, marl, marine deposits, and alberese soils, giving it both authenticity and complexity of place. Full and firm, 2019 opens with floral black cherry that spills onto the palate with streaks of espresso, dark plum, and a slick of tannin lined with a savoury dried herb crust. Thoughtful and dense, it is crushable at the moment, but it should be given the time it needs for all the layers and parts to come together in harmony. One worth giving lots of time in a bottle. Be patient.Tasted: 11 September 2023Tasted by: Prices:
