Anthonij Rupert Protea Chenin Blanc 2020
Western Cape, South AfricaProtea is named after South Africa's national flower and it's all over the bottle. This wine is consistently clean and fresh, no doubt part of its winemaking regime: gently whole bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel, staying in contact with lees for two months. It has an overt lemon-lime attack with peach and fresh cut herbs. The lees have given it a twist of complexity and texture, resulting in a cross between SA chenin and Kiwi sauvignon, all for an attractive price. Unfortunately, the twist-off natural cork impedes opening the bottle. Try this with steamed mussels.Tasted: 12 August 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $14.99 | 750ml | BCLS Exclusive |
