Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaI tasted this alongside an excellent Italian version of the same grape, which easily reflects its self-described statement made in a fresh Italian style. It is stainless steel fermented to retain its new orchard fruit characters, mixing the flavours of the Naramata Bench home vineyard and Hidden Terrace in Oliver. 2021 was no cakewalk. Wildfires were ever present, and heat domes added to the travails of growers, yet this presents fresh as a daisy without a hint of smoke. That’s right, the 175-kilometre-long Okanagan is home to many mesoclimates, which is at the heart of its diversity. The winery would like you to consider blackened Mahi Mahi tacos, peach salsa, or Caprese toasts with roasted tomatoes and basil. I would add spicy sushi rolls to the list to offset the ripe peachy fruit. Ready to drink.
