Tantalus Old Vines Riesling Piquette 2021

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThough it sounds new and trendy, piquette is a very old traditional French way of using up grape skins and stems after first pressing, giving them a quick rehydration and then (re)ferment in stainless, and bottling them right away, capturing the slight effervescence, and slighter alcohol (here 7%) for a refreshing drink, usually for the farmers, to consume near instantly. As labelled, this bottle comes off their old vines riesling block, and there is a very faint pear blossom note intermixed with ethyl acetate (acetone), crab apple, smoked stone on a tart, short palate, finishing with a bitter banana skin note. Chill well down.Tasted: 29 July 2022Tasted by: Prices:
