Jean Loron Chateau de la Pierre Regnié Pur Gamay 2020
Régnié, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceBuilt in the 12th century, Château de la Pierre was one of the main forts used to defend the capital of Sires de Beaujeu. Owned by the Maison Jean Loron today, it encompasses 12 hectares of 50 year old vines. This cuvée comes from stony vines in pink granite soils, was native fermented, and saw no sulphur added. Fleshy dark cherry, black raspberry, spring rhubarb, and crushed stones flood a medium bodied, tart palate, with crunchy acidity, and furry tannins carrying this to a blunted, warming finish. A little bit of SO2 would have gone a very long way in cleaning up this (not so pur) wine.Tasted: 23 November 2022Tasted by: Prices:

Jean Loron Chateau de la Pierre Regnié Pur Gamay 2020
Régnié, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FrancePure Gamay is bottled without added sulphur, which leaves this wine with a boatload of juicy red fruit. Red currants abound in a savoury bath of acidity and gently grippy tannins suggesting this wine has plenty of bottle life ahead. If you have to drink now, think duck or quail to take on its youthful structure and fruit. A quality wine.Tasted: 28 July 2022Tasted by: Prices:
