Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalSoalheiro is and should be regarded as the epitome of Vinho Verde production. Luis Cerdeiro, along with his brother Joâo and sister Maria, have taken over the northern VV estate that their father Joâo planted in 1974, making them the 4th wine producer in VV at that time, making and bottling their wines to sell. This alvarinho, from the initial vines planted on the property in 1974 (including some own-rooted vines), was primarily fermented cool in stainless, with 15% going into used oak barrels until the blend and bottling the following spring. Crisp and bright, crystalline lemon, crunchy pear, pear skin, green apple, rock salts, and wild herbs across a bed of fine lees, finishing a potent granitic grip and lingering salinity.
