Seven Stars Equinox Brut Rosé 2018

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe latest Equinox, a name inspired by the date when day and night are of equal length, is a single vineyard Brut Rosé. The colour is perfect pale salmon. The fruit comes off Okanagan Falls Stoneridge Vineyard, now 25 years old. The goal is low-yielding fruit from pinot noir clone 115, which comes in at just under two 2 tonnes per acre. Large boulder size gravel, clay and sandy loam provide the perfect drainage while adding the critical ingredient — minerality. The nose is alive with strawberries and rhubarb sitting over creamy citrus, with a biscuit underside snapping in the finish. The same fruit and acid tension spill onto the palate with lovely depth and delicate complexity. The wine spends nearly three years on its lees, adding depth and complexity along the way. Could it be better than last year? I think so.Tasted: 03 June 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
