Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalQuinta de Amares is located in Amares, in the small village of Sto. André de Rendufe. The quinta has a legacy of history, home to the very important Benedictine monastery Mosteiro de Santo André de Rendufe (11th century – 15th). Because this 100% alvarinho is from Cávado subregion, and not from the special northern subregion of Monçao e Malgaço, it has to take the designation VR Minho (rather than DOC Vinho Verde).
