Sicily, ItalyIt is hard to believe you can get a well made red wine from Sicily for the same price as a decade ago. Cantine Fina is the maker of this easy sipping nero d'avola grown on the western side of Sicily. Ripening wine in Sicily has never been a problem, and growing at altitude with care seems to have solved the freshness issue. The result is a full-bodied, juicy red packing raspberry and black cherry with a touch of dry earth and leather in the finish for mystery. I love that the alcohol is a modest 13 percent, and the tannins are soft. A classic pizza red that can double up with sausages or burgers from the grill. Excellent value.Tasted: 29 July 2022Tasted by: Prices:
Sicily, ItalyCantine Fina winery is located in western Sicily, between Marsala and Erice, on the hill of Bausa. From Nero d' Avola grapes in the hills above Trapani, this is ripe with the Sicilian sunshine, moving ripe raspberry, cherry across a suave, leathery palate, brightened with some altitude and the marine environment. Time in stainless has preserved the purity of the grape, clocking here at a moderate and welcome 13%, and tannins are soft and nubile, making this a friendly wine to drink this summer, ideally with grilled burgers / ribs. Great value.Tasted: 01 June 2022Tasted by: Prices:
