Fitapreta Os Paulistas Chão dos Eremitas Vinhas Velhas 2019

Alentejo, Central and Southern Portugal, PortugalHermits of the order of São Paulo, had been making their wine in the Chão dos Eremitas vineyard since at least the 14th C. Os Paulistas, the name given to the Hermits of the order of São Paulo, had been making their wine in this vineyard since at least the 14th C. This blend of Tinta Carvalha, Castelão, Moreto, Alfrocheiro and Trincadeira comes off 51 year old vines, rooted in the granitic southern foothills of Serra d’Ossa, around 250m. This was 30% whole bunch, native fermented and macerated 25 to 40 days, followed by 18 months in French oak. Dusty stones, scrubby herbs leap out of this wild red, woven with cherry, wild plum, wild flowers through the medium bodied palate. Tannins are well absorbed into the fruit, while the buzzy granitic acidity and tension holds this aloft. Very charming, this characterful red drinks beautifully now and over the next few years. 5100 bottles produced.Tasted: 17 June 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
