Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaThe Salentein style is always a bit showy, and this reserve version of their malbec is no surprise. The attack is fresh, inspired by its chosen fruit from a cool location at altitude. Floral and black fruit notes precede a juicy palate of savoury black fruits with a spiced finish. Authentic, and while youthful, it will need only another year or two to reach its zenith in the bottle. Steak anyone?Tasted: 23 March 2022Tasted by: Prices:
Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaThis malbec comes primarily off their Uco Valley El Oasis vineyard (1050 – 1200m), with a smaller portion off their La Pampa estate (1250 - 1300m). This was fermented / macerated over 3 weeks prior to transfer to French and American oak casks for MLF and a year's rest. Rich and heady, with roasted espresso, crushed violets, ripe cassis, and savoury red cherry. Tannins are ample but sueded, hugging the dense fruit through a spice box finish. Quite regal, this dense wine shows well now with big grilled beef, but will reward with a little cellaring.Tasted: 04 May 2022Tasted by: Prices:
