Quinta de Azevedo Alvarinho Reserva 2020

Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalThe Azevedo domains date back to the 11th century, when royal donations were granted to the Azevedo family. The vineyards and winery, including the mysterious tower, have remained since the 15th century. Since 1982 it has been the Vinho Verde base for the Guedes family, owners of the mighty Sogrape empire. This was done in stainless, blanketed by gas, and with regular bâtonnage. There's a lovely directness in this streamlined alvarinho, with white peach, almond, quince blossom and a twist of lemon on the finish. Tight, bright, and crisp, with a lingering salinity, this is a natural for simple shellfish dishes. A welcome and refreshing change to have a Vinho Verde under screw cap.Tasted: 27 May 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
