Lomond Conebrush Vineyard Syrah 2018

Western Cape, South AfricaFrom the southernmost tip of Africa, at Cape Agulhas, this single vineyard syrah comes from sandy, gravelled clays 50-100m. Destemmed grapes spent 3 weeks on skins before going to 1st and 2nd French oak, where it remained for 18 months' rest. This opens with a puff of reduction before a smouldering blackberry, cassis, smoked stone on a compact, shorter palate. Tannins are gritty, but absorbed into the blocky fruit. Wishing for more expressiveness here.Tasted: 18 April 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
