Gualtallary, Tupungato, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaThe mix is 50/40/10 malbec/cabernet sauvignon/syrah grown at Gualtallary, Tupungato, at a vineyard around 1200 meters in the Andean foothills. The style is high mountain stark with intense cedar and balsamic mixed with cassis, tobacco, and espresso bean. The power and acidity are overpowering at the moment, so I suggest more bottle time. If you want to drink it now, serve it with barbecue ribs or hamburgers. Not for the faint hearted.Tasted: 23 March 2022Tasted by: Prices:
Gualtallary, Tupungato, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaThis blend of 50% Malbec, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Syrah comes from Gualtallary, Tupungato, at a vineyard around 4000 ft, in the foothills of the Andes. Each variety was fermented in stainless over three weeks before 3-4 months in contact with French oak (staves?). Rich and ripe blackberry, black plum filter through tobacco, espresso, and dark cocoa on a compact, shorter palate, with cassis acidity and a hem of pasty/gritty tannins. The tart cassis acidity brings some freshness, along with the altitude — one to crack now with grilled burgers.Tasted: 07 April 2022Tasted by: Prices:
