Mauro Molino Barolo 2017

Barolo, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyMauro Molino was born in Piemonte, grew up amongst the storied hills and iconic vines, and graduated from Alba Winemaking School in 1973. After a few years of making wine in Emilia Romagna, he returned to start his own winery in the Langhe following the passing of his father. Grown in calcareous and clay soils from vineyards across their holdings in Barolo, this wine is meant to typify the region, through Molino’s understated elegance. From 20-25 year old vines, this was fermented in steel before aging in older 25-50hl French oak barrels for 18 months. Stately and refined, with smoked tobacco, black cherry, black raspberry, dried roses across a firmly structured palate. Tannins are nebbiolo-structured, barely yielding, and holding this upright. Take now with a decant and roast lamb.Tasted: 08 March 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
