Champagne, FranceDavid Pehu is the 4th generation to lead this Verzenay estate, with 7.5 organically farmed hectares across Verzy, Verzenay, Mailly, Sillery and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. They only produce Grand Cru wines, selling off their 1.5ha of premier cru fruit to negotiants. This Rosé blends 80% pinot noir (including 5% still wine) with 20% chardonnay, based on 2018, with 20% reserve wine from their 2005 solera. The wine was fermented in a mix of 80% stainless, 20% barriques, with no MLF. After 36 months on lees, it was disgorged with 4 g/L. This opens with ripe red fruit, cherry meringue, baked red apples, and toast, on a creamy, gently expansive palate. There's a welcome lashing of lemon pith / red currant acidity to brighten, through to the chalky finish.Tasted: 31 March 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
