Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis was tasted against the 2019 and seems more like a welcomed progression than a chain reaction of the previous year. More lemon, more freshness, and seemingly a bit more depth of flavour were the story in 2020. Like last year there is pear and peach, but there’s a kiwi, gooseberry note that lights up the underside and keeps it fresh through a citrus finish. Well done and ready for some spicy noodles or a pan of grilled vegetables. Chain Reaction Naramata is Bench based and owned by Joel and Linda Chamaschuk, who named the venture after their passion for cycling. Well-known winemaker Dwight Sick consults here.Tasted: 22 February 2022Tasted by: Prices:
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaChain Reaction is a relatively new virtual winery, based on the Naramata Bench, owned by Joel and Linda Chamaschuk, and named for their love of cycling. Originally from the Lower Mainland, they've been enjoying BC wine since 1991, and finally decided to become part of the industry, purchasing an orchard on the Bench, and planting their first vineyard in 2019. Well-known winemaker Dwight Sick oversees the wines, made at nearby Moraine Winery. Off their estate McMillan vineyard, this gris was whole bunch pressed, and fermented and aged on lees in stainless for 4 months. There's a lovely freshness to this younger gris, with tight pear, white peach, gooseberry wrapped with a lime sherbet brace. There's a little warmth on the spiced finish, but nothing that your South Asian take out couldn't meet.Tasted: 17 March 2022Tasted by: Prices:
