Astrolabe Pinot Noir 2018
Marlborough, South Island, New ZealandTheir Marlborough Pinot Noir comes from a variety of clones grown across Marlborough: from the Waihopai and Brancott Valleys in the Wairau’s Southern Valleys, and further south to the windy Awatere valley, and right down to the southern Kēkerengū Coast. Soils are primarily a mix of loess-clay, silty loams, and limestone, and the grapes are all native fermented, partially whole bunch, with aging in older tight-grain French oak for 10 months. Pouring a browning hue (same tone as the label in fact), this silken pinot streams ripe black cherry, earthy raspberry, tart rhubarb, toast along a plush, medium+ palate. Warming baking spice seasons the whole, while soft, long tannins house this to the sweetly spiced finish. Friendly, smart choice for pouring now alongside duck or wild mushrooms.Tasted: 12 March 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:ON | $35.00 | 750ml | consignment |
