Pedemonte Valpolicella, Verona, Veneto, ItalyFrom the Lucchine vineyard at the foot of the Pedemonte hills in the heartland of Valpolicella, this blend of corvina, corvinone, rondinella, molinara, rossignola, negrara, and dindarella is off 27 year old vines rooted in clay and limestone soils. Stainless fermented, then rested for a brief two months, this is a humble and smashable Valpo, full of morello cherry, juicy plum, wild raspberry, thorns, and salted dried herbs. Tannins are slight, as is the 13% palate, guiding this to a saline finish.
