The colour is a pale yellow, the nose a citrus pith and green apple affair. The palate is nervous with guava and lime and a subtle bitter undercurrent mixed with a salty finish. Kitsch Riesling 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe estate riesling is all clone 239, planted 2013 on gravel, sands and silts. It was whole cluster pressed and fermented in stainless, with no bâtonnage. Thought just 3 g/L RS, it comes across as lightly off-dry, with ripe pear, honey, cool quince stretched long across the sleek palate. In 2020, these low-yielding, seven-year-old vines offer a zesty wine that combines punchy lime with crisp green apple. There's a real crystalline character to the fruit, with honey and delicate citrus blossoms adding complexity. It's linear and dry (3 g/L residual sugar), in a style that is racy but not austere.
