Henry Marionnet Renaissance Touraine 2019

Touraine, Loire, FranceThe Marionnet family has owned the Domaine de la Charmoise since 1850, nestled in the village of Soings. Henry and his son Jean Sebastien make wines from organic, ungrafted vines, including one of the oldest vineyards in France: a 160 years old pre-phyloxera Romorantin plot. This gamay was planted in 1992 on clay soils, was whole bunch and native fermented in stainless, where it remained for one year, with no sulphur throughout. All of that makes for not your typical gamay, with dusky black plum, wild blackberry, thorns on a soft, downy palate. Tannins are slight and sticky, while acidity is lofted. This is a charming wine with a very slight chill, and charcuterie / sausage platter.Tasted: 28 February 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
