Collalto Ponte Rosso Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Extra Brut NV

Veneto, ItalyThe great history book of the Counts of Collalto takes its start as early as 958, when Berengarius, King of Italy, granted to Rambaldo I, ancestor of the Collaltos, a vast plain of meadows, pastures, and vineyards at the foot of the hills of Treviso. Since 1110, the House of Collalto, generation after generation, has protected these hills, which over time became the heartland of prosecco. Today Princess Isabella Collalto de Croÿ, and her husband Prince Guillaume de Croÿ oversee the 164 hectare estate and vineyards. From Collato's red clay soils, Glera is tipped with Verdisio and Bianchetta, spending 4-6 months in autoclaves and 2 more months in bottle prior to release. It is dosed with 2 g/L RS, making it a rare and refreshingly dry style. Crunchy pear, green apple, tangerine blossom, grapefruit pith streak across the tight palate, carved with tight, chalky acidity through a lingering shimmery finish. Impressively contemporary.Tasted: 24 February 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
