Catena Alta Historic Rows Malbec 2018

Mendoza, ArgentinaCatena Alta is an assemblage of historical rows of the Catena Zapata vineyards planted to the Catena family's proprietary selection of malbec plants. The blocks (five in total) are known to yield highly aromatic and elegant wine that speaks to four generations of winegrowers. It's malbec at a comfortable 13.8% that is finished unfined and unfiltered. Floral dark fruit mix with classic savoury jarilla characters. On the palate, red and blue fruits with a dusting of minerals push through the entire wine. Juicy fresh but with a substantial underpinning of structure, it is a drink or hold wine, depending on your patience. For vineyard freaks, the grape breakdown is as follows: Lot 18, Angelica Vineyard, Maipú, Luján de Cuyo (920m/3018ft) Alluvial origin. Loamy clay in the topsoil with rounded rocks on the bottom; Lot 4, La Piramide Vineyard, Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo (950m/3116ft). Alluvial origin.
