Langhe, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyA once-in-a-lifetime vintage is a time to strike at the lesser wines in the village, and this Langhe Nebbiolo is worth seeking out. The nose is pleasantly aromatic with a whiff of peppery spice, tobacco leaf, and earth. The colour is Piedmont light red, with a touch of brick at the edge. But the money here is in the flavours. Intense, rich, and at the same time elegant, the wine dances across the palate, pitching red plums and roses. The tannins are almost sweet, blocking the dry notes, pulling you through to the end of the wine. Beautifully balanced, it is 20-year wine that will improve and improve. Well done.
